Leadership

Mike Russell – Honorary and former President
Mike served & lead this ministry for over 13 years Wholeheartedly. He loved serving & helping his friends on the street. Always trying to be his best version of “the hands & feet of Jesus”. We miss him dearly But his legacy lives on. Each weekend we hear amazing stories of  the impact he had on our brothers/sisters. He was a great example of the key verse of this ministry.
Matthew 25:40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

Kenny Sides
Executive Director

Kenny and his wife, Cheryl, live in Boerne with their daughter, Sarah, and attend FBC Boerne. Kenny has been involved with Taking it to the Streets for several years. “I love this ministry and feel called to serve the less fortunate. In James 2:14 God tells us ‘my brothers and sisters, if people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing. A brother or sister might need clothes or food, if you say to that person, “God be with you!” but do nothing, then your words are worth nothing.’”

Joey Gibson
Vice President

I started volunteering since 2014 with my soon-to-be wife after she heard about the ministry from a friend. Word of mouth is a great way to share information about this ministry and has connected me with an organization I am proud to call family.
I was born and raised in Andrews, TX, in western Texas. I have worked as a Senior Data Scientist at WellMed for over twelve years. I am married and live in Bulverde, TX. I enjoy fishing and camping in my free time.
Volunteering for a Christian ministry is rewarding for many reasons:
Spiritual Growth:It helps me deepen my faith and grow spiritually by serving others and following Christian values.
Community Building: I connect with people who share similar beliefs, which creates a sense of belonging.
Making a Difference: My small contributions have a real impact on people’s lives, whether through outreach programs, sharing the gospel, or offering a smile.
Personal Development: Volunteering allows me to develop skills like leadership, communication, and empathy. These skills help me succeed as a Sunday School facilitator.
Sense of Purpose: It gives me fulfillment to contribute to a cause greater than myself, which is to serve God.
